How to embed a Canva video into a Klaviyo email in 5 steps

This step-by-step process shows you how to add a Canva video template to your email that plays in the body of the email when opened by each recipient.

Our video email set up process is designed to be super simple, requiring no coding or plugins, it works with all ESP’s out of the box.

1. Create a campaign in Klaviyo

  • Log into your Klaviyo Account
  • Select Create Campaign and then Email. Give your campaign name, confirm the date, and select Continue.
  • Select whom you wish to send the campaign to and any lists you wish to exclude from the campaign, now Continue to Content.
  • Add your Subject Line and Preview Text then select the Drag and Drop Editor option to create your email.
  • Select the email template you wish to use for your campaign from the Template Library or use one of your Saved Templates. Consider using a template where a hero image is featured at the head of the template, as this is the best position for your video content. Using this template layout means you can simply replace the hero image with your video content.
  • You now are ready to build your email. In the email template editor drag a Text Block into your template where you’d like the video to be featured, we recommend this be positioned at the head of the email template.
  • In the left hand column of the email editor locate the Source Code option and click the downward arrow located to the right of this. You will see a Source Code pane which contains some code starting with <div>. Delete all this code.
  • You are now ready to move onto selecting your YouTube video.

Step 3. Sign up for a Viewed Video Email Account

Step 4. Convert your Canva video to a HTML snippet

  • Upload your Canva video to our Video Email Platform, the video should not be larger than 100mb, and not be longer than 60 seconds.
  • You can upload your Canva video by either dragging it into the video email platform, or selecting the file from your documents.
  • Choose a name for the video so you can locate it later, either to re-use it or check out the results of your campaign.
  • Select your ESP as Other email Sending Software.
  • Click the Create Video button.
  • The video email platform will now transcode the Canva video file into a HTML snippet.
  • Copy the HTML snippet using the Copy button at the foot of the HTML pane.

Step 5. Add the Canva video to your Klaviyo email

  • In the left hand column of the email editor locate the HTML Pane. If it is not showing, click on the HTML block in your template to reveal it. Now delete the line of code in this pane.
  • Paste the HTML code snippet into the HTML pane.
  • Your Canva video will now play within the body of your email template within the editor, select Mobile at the head of the editor to see how the video will look on mobile devices.
  • Select Preview and Test to see how the video email will appear on both Desktop and Mobile.
  • Continue to set up your campaign ready for sending.
