How to embed a YouTube video into a Mailchimp email in 4 steps

This step-by-step process shows you how to add a YouTube video to your email that plays in the body of the email when opened by each recipient.

Step 1. Create a new email Campaign in Mailchimp

  • Log into your Mailchimp Account.
  • Create a new email campaign in Mailchimp.
  • Select the email template you wish to use for your campaign from the Mailchimp email template library.
  • You now are ready to build your email. In the email template editor, drag a HTML block into your template where you’d like the video to be featured, we recommend this be positioned at the head of the email template.
  • You are now ready to work on your video content.

Step 2. Locate your YouTube Video

  • You need to extract a copy of this YouTube video, to do this you have 2 options.
  • Option 1: Copy the URL of the video from the address bar, you can paste this into the allocated place later.
  • Option 2: Download the video from YouTube, for this option you will need a Premium YouTube Account.
