How to add an Instagram video to email

Add Instagram videos to emails with ease.

Follow these 7 steps to add an Instagram video to email

Set up a new campaign in your preferred ESP, we’ll use Klaviyo.
Add a text block to your Klaviyo email template.
Export your Instagram video from your Instagram Account
Upload your video to the Video Email Platform.
Copy the HTML code
Paste the HTML code into the text block within your email template.
Save and preview your video email.

1. Set up a new email campaign in your preferred ESP, we'll use Klaviyo

Create a new email campaign in Klaviyo.
Select the Drag and Drop option to build your email.
When selecting your template choose a template which enables the Instagram video to be featured at the head of the template.

2. Add a Text Block to your email template

Drag a Text Block into the template in to the position where you wish the Instagram video to be featured.

3. Download your Instagram video

There are a number of third party apps that enable you to easily download videos from your Instagram account, we are using the chrome extension here.

4. Upload your Instagram video

Upload your Instagram video to the Video Email Platform by either dragging the video file into the upload box or selecting the file from your documents.

Add a name for your video, this will be used to locate the video later and also view the reports of the campaign.

The video file must be under 100Mb and be a maximum duration of 60 seconds.

Add the URL of the page to which any clickers on the video should be redirected.

5. Copy the HTML code

Select Klaviyo as your ESP from the drop down list.

Now click the copy icon in the top right hand corner of the box which contains the HTML code of your video.

6. Paste the video code into your Klaviyo email template

In Klaviyo select “Source” in the Text Block which you earlier added to your Klaviyo email template.

Click in the text block and delete any words in the Text Block before pasting the HTML code into the Text Block.

7. Save and Preview your video email

Your Instagram video has now been added to your Klaviyo email template and you can view this in the preview.

To complete the process simply finalise your template, send a test email as normal and then proceed to send the campaign in the normal way through Klaviyo.

Your email template width will be 600px, so when adding it to your template you’ll need to adjust the videos width to fit this 600px.

+ - Does the recipient click to make the video play?

No, the recipient does not need to click on the video to have it play within the email.

The video email is designed to play automatically at the moment the recipient opens the email.

+ - Does video in email impact email delivery rates?
